About

As an award-winning college and loved history and political science professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College, Professor Fischer always wanted to parlay his humor and insight into creating walking tours.  He specializes in arcane and fast-chaning ethnic neighborhoods, particularly in the outer boroughs and the lower east side.

Formerly a high school history, Economics, and political science instructor, Fischer developed his own law programs at Evander Childs High School in the Bronx, and Wadleigh High School in Manhattan.

Before becoming a high school teacher, Professor Fischer had extensive background in newspaper and magazine journalism as an editor, investigative reporter and sports columnist.  he continues to parlay his love of baseball into his walking tours and library lectures about NYC and its history.
