Hi! I’m Phil, licensed to be a tour guide by the City of New York and a member of the Guides Association of New York City. I enjoy sharing the sights and stories of New York on guided walking tours! Come along, let’s talk about and walk about New York!I began my walking-tour service, Walk About New York to share my passion for the Big Apple with tourists and locals alike. You do not need to be an out-of-towner to enjoy the sights and stories that I will share with you. My walking tours offer something for everyone! Please allow me to share with you New York City, the place that I call home. During all my four tours I will connect the sights with fun facts and fascinating tales, helping to create for you a rich experience of New York. I’m a good photographer, too; I can help you take memorable photographs of your visit to the Big Apple that you will want to share with others.

Tours & Services Offered

Special Tours:

I have developed and lead an LGBT-focused tour at Green-Wood Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark in Brooklyn. The Gay Graves Tour will introduce you to the famous and the not-so-famous gay men and lesbians who are among the permanent residents at Green-Wood. The Gay Graves Tour is conducted entirely on foot; the amount of hilly territory covered makes this a vigorous hiking tour.Beginning at the fabulous Victorian Gothic gate to Green-Wood, we visit the final resting places of four gay composers: Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Leonard Bernstein, Paul Jabara and Fred Ebb, as well as those of two groundbreaking lesbian artists, Violet Oakley and Emma Stebbins.Amid centuries-old trees, fabulous works of art, and bucolic surroundings enjoy a fascinating dose of gay history, New York history and U.S. history during this unique tour. Check the website for the dates when the Gay Graves tour is given. It can be booked privately; e-mail me to make arrangements.
