Liz Young, a licensed guide and former food business professional, has been leading culinary walking tours in New York City since 2003. She specializes in exclusive excursions in Manhattan and Brooklyn and strives to share the history and beauty of NYC while showcasing the best food operations in each neighborhood. She served as general manager of two restaurants, was Director of the world’s largest avocational cooking division with over 23,000 students each year and the managing editor of a peer-reviewed nutrition journal, where she worked for 17 years. Liz has a Master’s degree in Food Studies and Food Management from New York University and graduated from culinary school. She lived in Mexico (so is conversational in Spanish) and has traveled elsewhere to learn about the world. When not touring NYC, she spends her time painting watercolors, urban gardening in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC, and writing grants for non-profits. She also leads continuing education classes for the Brooklyn Public Library/ NYC Department of Education called “Cooking in the Classroom.”
