About

Enjoy customized food and culture excursions with Liz Young of Culinary and City Tours. Her tours include history, architecture, and all things food and drink. You can choose from a neighborhood list or create your own tours built to your interests, time, and budget.

Fun and food-filled culinary walking tours include meals and a private, licensed, guide who is fluent in New York City’s history and culinary scenes. These escorted tours, developed over a decade, allow guests to enjoy the city’s iconic purveyors, restaurants, and food happenings with the flexibility you need. Come join the fun!

Liz is also available for step-on guiding and other hospitality and tour needs (see listed services).

A licensed guide now, Liz spent the first part of her career running restaurants in New York City and Philadelphia, followed by heading the world's largest cooking program for home cooks as a culinary school director. She is a culinary school graduate and holds a master's degree in Food Studies and Food Management.

Liz has entertained discerning clients from around the globe along with corporate and leisure groups (1-40 guests), including the Fancy Food Show, International Association of Culinary Professionals, Campbell's, Unilever, Norseland, the History Channel, New York University, and more. She loves giving tours to international visitors, lived in Mexico for a year, and has traveled extensively.

Besides leading culinary tours, Liz was the Managing Editor of a peer-reviewed nutrition journal until 2020. She is a member of the Art Students League, Les Dames d'Escoffier, and Les Amis d'Escoffier.
