Hire Liz Young, a licensed guide and former food business professional, who has led culinary walking tours in New York City since 2003. She specializes in exclusive excursions in Manhattan, and strives to share the history and beauty of NYC while showcasing the best food operations in each neighborhood. She lived in Brooklyn for 19 years, served as general manager of two restaurants, was director of the world’s largest avocational cooking division with over 23,000 students each year, and the managing editor of a peer-reviewed nutrition journal, where she worked for 17 years. Liz has a Master’s degree in Food Studies and Food Management and graduated from culinary school. She lived in Mexico (so is conversational in Spanish) and has traveled elsewhere to learn about the world. She also led continuing education classes for the Brooklyn Public Library/ NYC Department of Education called “Cooking in the Classroom” and wrote grants for non-profits. When not touring NYC, she spends her time painting watercolors and leads a community service opportunity for local high school students focused on urban tree care and other neighborhood concerns.
