Jose has been a licensed New York City tour guide since 2011, leading a wide range of tours that reflect both his deep knowledge of the city and his lasting enthusiasm for its many layers of history, culture, neighborhoods, and institutions. Over the years, he has also worked as a tour manager and destination operator, coordinating programs for international groups and developing itineraries that require both logistical precision and the ability to adapt to New York’s constant unpredictability.
A graduate of Baruch College with degrees in Economics and History, Jose brings an interdisciplinary perspective to his work, often connecting urban development, immigration, finance, and everyday city life in the tours he leads.
From 2020 to 2025, he worked at Bloomberg L.P., supporting finance and banking professionals in the use of data and research tools, an experience that further strengthened his understanding of New York’s role in global markets and added depth to the financial and institutional stories he shares with visitors.
Born in Guatemala City to a family of musicians, Jose grew up between music, travel, and history. Fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Norwegian, he regularly works with visitors from around the world and values the cultural exchange that guiding makes possible.
He is honored to have been nominated and elected to the board of Guides Association of New York City and looks forward to serving the organization as Corresponding Secretary.
