The Guides Association of New York City has written a set of Health and Safety Guidelines to safely conduct tours on the streets of New York City.
The first document is to our GUESTS with the commitments we expect of them as they tour with GANYC guides. This document features the NYC & Company STAY WELL NYC Pledge. GANYC serves in a leadership role as an Allied Organization in NYC & Company’s Coalition for NYC Hospitality and Tourism Recovery. It reveals to the public a unified industry dedicated to the health and wellbeing of all of our guests in every aspect of tourism in the City of New York. It clearly states that the creation of a safe environment is a shared responsibility.
The second document for GUIDES breaks down how to safely conduct a tour. We encourage all of our members to treat each tour as if it is a new product. Much has changed on our streets, and GANYC guides should be prepared for all contigencies.
The third document to TOUR OPERATORS has recommendations for walking tours, bus and boat touring, tours involving food, and tours of museums and other cultural institutions. We provide this guidance to assist guides in looking after their own safety in the new workplace. We hope this encourages a dialogue between guides and operators in creating that safe workplace.
The GANYC Health and Safety Task Force invites any and all commentary and questions from our members. Please direct your questions to John Semlak and Patrick Casey: secretary@ganyc.org
Wear your mask, wash your hands, stay six feet apart, and tour safely.
