"The horse does all the walking and I do all the talking."
So has been my tour guide pitch to passersby for twenty years as a carriage driver, first in Philadelphia and now, since 2012, in New York City. A horsey girl since growing up in Lexington, KY, I've been lucky enough to combine my love of history with my love of horses, driving a horse-drawn carriage for a living. And, as a public practitioner of living history - working with an urban horse as a partner in our shared civilization - I've had a lot of experience with public relations, the media and politics - ever present forces in New York City.
In addition to being a licensed NYC horse-drawn cab driver, I have been a licensed NYC sightseeing guide since 2021.
I was a founding member of the Association of Philadelphia Tourguides in 2009. I joined GANYC because I appreciate being in the company of so many interesting, funny, knowledgeable guides who love this city and its history as much as I do.
Whether you're seeing the city on foot, from the top of a double decker bus, by bike, on rollerskates, by boat, or with the help of an equine friend in Central Park, the BEST way to see it is with a licensed tour guide.
