GANYC RoundUp

GANYC at Pier 57

GANYC heads into Fall! A couple round-ups:

1. GANYC has had a number of great meetings at NYC venues this year. Follow our YouTube to see the recordings each month:
https://www.youtube.com/@guidesassociationofnyc/videos

2. GANYC members continue to be featured in the news.

Christina Stanton was featured in the NY Times for her personal experiences as someone who has been giving World Trade Center-area tours since even before the events of September 11, 2001. It is a detailed article that moves between her personal experiences as a lower Manhattan resident during that tragic day, and her work as a guide keeping the stories of September 11th alive to visitors from all over the world.

Elsewhere, UK-based paper The Times covers member Suzanne Reisman for her popular lower Manhattan tour focusing on rats and NYC sanitation history.  The story is a fun look at a typical tour.

One great thing about GANYC: No matter what type of tour you want, or what aspect of NYC you are interested, one of our members has you covered!

3. Our own Joe Svehlak-- a man who's been giving tours of lower Manhattan longer than some of our younger members have been alive!-- completed his 3-part series on this historic area, which were all recorded. Part 3 (focusing on the area central to Revolutionary War-era New York) is here:

(Part 1, from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Financial District, is HERE .
Part 2, about Little Syria and the Lower West Side,  is HERE .)

Thanks for reading, and we look forward to seeing you all in NYC soon!
