GANYC News Round-Up

GANYC has had a productive 2026 so far! The organization continues to grow with new members, we attended the WFTGA convention in Fukuoka Japan, attended Destination Capitol Hill in Washington DC, held our latest Apple Awards ceremony, hosted dozens of familiarization tours, and are looking forward to welcoming visitors arriving for the World Cup this Summer.

Here is a round-up of some news from our membership:

1. GANYC President Michael Morgenthal presented at the MTA Staycation Showcase in Grand Central Terminal this month. Among many great New York region options, we were proud to showcase the amazing tours offered by our 350+ members. We thank Metro-North for inviting us to this showcase.

2. Suzanne Reisman is featured in a new documentary video: " The Untold Story Of New York City's Rats". The video explores the culture and history behind New York's rat issues. You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMwCBXiqCuE

3.  Ann McDermott was interviewed for Dutch TV for a long video news story about the history of New Amsterdam, the 17th-century Dutch settlement in lower Manhattan that is the origin of New York City.
Video is online: https://npo.nl/start/afspelen/simone-en-de-roofstaat (Ann's segment begins about 3.5 minutes in)

4. Christina Stanton wrote an article for Travel & Leisure: "I've Been a NYC Tour Guide for 30+ Years—Here's the No. 1 Tip for Travelers Visiting the City". Some great thoughts on the importance of a balanced itinerary.
With a plug for hiring GANYC guides, of course!

Thank you all for your support, and happy touring!
