GANYC members continue to make their way into the news!
CNN is the latest news outlet to cover the expected tourism downturn in NYC. The biggest downturn is expected from international visitors, in response to new policies from the current President. New York City Tourism + Conventions has cut its forecast for international tourists in 2025 by 17%. And while most city visitors are domestic travelers, their international counterparts spend more on average, and further enrich our city with their presence. GANYC members Matt Levy and Renée Rewiski are interviewed for this article.
You can watch a video of Renée Rewiski speaking of her experiences in a CNN Instagram reel.
In more positive news, member Suzanne Reisman was profiled in Time Out New York about her unique Garbage and Rats walking tour. The tour covers the history of the rat populations in NYC, the history of sanitation in the city, and how the city combats rodents. Guests learn about rat biology and habits, garbage disposal systems, metaphorical rats (ie. the corrupt!), and gross stories featuring all of the above. Suzanne is a graduate of the New York City Trash Academy and a member of the New York City Rat Pack, “an elite squad of dedicated anti-rat activists.”
