About
Andy Richter: A consummate New Yorker who has been bathing in New York City's history since childhood and moved him to spend a lifetime learning just how The Big Apple came to be. Andy's primary trade has provided over a quarter-century of service to the people of the City of New York as a leader in public transportation field. Among his many passions, however, is sharing the magic of New York as ambassador to groups and individuals from around the world. In the tour field, Andy combined his love of New York and skills as an award-winning photographer in leading groups assembled by the Soho Gallery for Digital Art on photographic journeys around Manhattan as Andy taught participants how to use their feature-rich cameras. He also spent three transformative years as a volunteer educator for the New York Transit Museum where he finally served the one institution that (as he stated in his NYTM tours) he demanded his parents take him as a child. It was there that he entertainingly and lovingly shared the transportation history of New York City to visitors from near and far and fell in love once more with his day job. Andy has also spent a decade and a half as an award-winning photographer, previously worked as a journalist and publicist, and currently serves as producer of The Art Shamsky Podcast with the legendary outfielder for the 1969 Miracle Mets. While not currently active as a tour guide, his NYC license is active and he welcomes future opportunities to share the richness that is New York through available customized experiences. Proud of his Colombian roots, Andy offers a special welcome to visitors from the Spanish-speaking world. Andy looks forward to sharing his love of New York with all visitors and fellow GANYC members!
